The 2026 Scotland Juneteenth Heritage Festival is grounded in our mission to honor our ancestors, commemorate emancipation, and empower their descendants through initiatives that support economic growth, community redevelopment, social progress, better health outcomes, and expanded educational opportunities.
Our vision is to carry our ancestors’ legacy forward by creating tangible pathways for economic, social, educational, health, and community advancement. Parade Registration

The Juneteenth Community Leadership Awards
As part of the 2026 Scotland Juneteenth Heritage Festival, the Juneteenth Community Leadership Awards celebrate the people who embody the spirit of freedom, service, and community power in the Scotland community and across the region.
This year, we will recognize outstanding leaders in the following categories:
Juneteenth Youth Leadership Award – Celebrating young leaders who inspire their peers, overcome challenges, and create positive change in their schools and communities.
Juneteenth Educator Excellence Award – Honoring educators who go above and beyond to nurture, advocate for, and empower the next generation.
Juneteenth Business Leadership Award – Recognizing business leaders who champion equity, create opportunity, and invest in the communities they serve.
Juneteenth Community Advocate Award – Uplifting community organizers, volunteers, and changemakers who dedicate their time and voice to protecting and strengthening Black communities.
Juneteenth Public Service Award – Honoring public servants who lead with integrity, accountability, and a deep commitment to justice and community wellbeing.
The Scotland Community
The Scotland community is a historically significant Black community located in Potomac, Maryland. This Festival was born from the efforts of the Scotland community, whose rich history and cultural contributions continue to resonate today. Learn more about this impactful community and their legacy.
