June 13: Opening Night
Come celebrate the Opening Night of the Annual Scotland Juneteenth Heritage Festival, Montgomery County’s premiere Black cultural event showcasing outstanding national and local musical artists. This year's celebration is headlined by Grammy Award winning gospel singer Hezekiah Walker along with his Love Fellowship Choir. Also an opening performance by local talent as well as appearances by county political, business and community leaders.

This special interfaith gathering will feature an uplifting message from renowned guest speaker Dr. John Paul McGee, reflections from Rabbi Michael Safra and Rabbi Evan Krame, and a prayer from Reverend Dr. Evalina Huggins. Attendees will also enjoy moving performances by the Scotland Community Choir, the Beth El Chamber Chorale High School Group, and Black Pearl Dance Theatre.

June 15: Interfaith Comedy Show
Get ready to laugh, connect, and celebrate in a whole new way.
As part of this year’s Scotland Juneteenth Heritage Festival, we’re excited to introduce our first-ever Interfaith Comedy Show. This isn’t your typical comedy night. Interfaith Comedy will be a clean comedy experience that brings together comedians from a wide range of religious, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. Through humor, the show breaks down barriers, challenges stereotypes, and creates space for understanding, all while keeping the audience laughing.
The 90-minute show features stand-up sets from a diverse lineup of comedians representing faiths including Islam, Christianity, and Judaism!

June 16: Football Clinic
Join us for the Juneteenth Football Clinic, where young athletes of all skill levels will train, compete, and grow under expert coaching. Players will sharpen their skills through drills and scrimmages while building teamwork, confidence, and discipline.

The Juneteenth Cheer Clinic is an exciting opportunity for young dancers to train with the pros in a high-energy, confidence-boosting environment.

Hit the court and celebrate freedom, unity, and athletic excellence at the Juneteenth Basketball Clinic! Open to young athletes of all skill levels, this high-energy session focuses on fundamentals, teamwork, and confidence-building and is led by experienced coaches and professional athletes.

June 19: Juneteenth Festival
The culmination of our weeklong celebration, June 19th is a powerful day of honoring freedom and the rich history of the Scotland Community.
5K Run
We kick off the morning at 8 AM with the Juneteenth 5K, a meaningful run through the historic Black neighborhood of Scotland, passing landmarks like the 100-year-old Scotland AME Zion Church on Seven Locks Road.
Wellness and Social Action Pavilion
After crossing the finish line, don’t let the energy fade—head over to the Wellness and Social Action Pavilion at Cabin John Village (9 AM – 1 PM)! Explore a vibrant showcase of organizations, nonprofits, and community groups dedicated to uplifting and empowering our community. Connect with passionate leaders, discover valuable resources, and be inspired by the impactful initiatives shaping our future. Join us for a morning of learning, networking, and celebration!

Black History 101 Mobile Museum with Dr. Khalid El-Hakim
Experience history like never before through the Black History 101 Mobile Museum held at the Scotland A.M.E. Zion Church from 10 AM — 3PM. Explore rare artifacts, historic documents, photographs, and powerful stories that highlight the richness, resilience, and contributions of Black people throughout history. This interactive, traveling museum brings history to life for visitors of all ages, creating opportunities to learn, reflect, and connect with the past in meaningful ways. All ages are welcome.

Family Carnival
For our youngest adventurers, the Family Carnival at Cabin John Park (11 AM – 5 PM) is a day full of excitement, creativity, and unforgettable memories! Enjoy rides, games, live performances, and hands-on activities the whole family will love. Don’t miss the Juneteenth Parade at 2:00 PM, featuring marching bands, dancers, performers, and colorful floats celebrating freedom, culture, and community.

Clarence “Pint” Isreal Baseball Classic and Fireworks Show
Step back in time and honor a cherished local tradition at the Clarence “Pint” Isreal Juneteenth Classic beginning at 6 PM, featuring the Gaithersburg Giants and the Bethesda Big Train. This commemorative game pays tribute to Clarence “Pint” Isreal, Montgomery County’s greatest Negro Leagues star and a dedicated mentor to local youth.
As the game winds down, the evening will culminate in a breathtaking fireworks display at 9 PM, lighting up the sky with a vibrant celebration you won’t want to miss.
